Tablets are smaller than laptops, but larger than smartphones with screens of between 7" to 11". Tablets are also better for viewing and use anywhere format. It's very easy to use right out of the box.
Most tablets, have a capacitive touchscreen, these will work only with my finger, or a chunky capacitive stylus.

When i teach, i use 7 inch Android tablet.
The Android tablet can hold the presentation, and i can use it to control the slides in much the same way as i'd use my own laptop. My 7 inch Android tablet have mini-HDMI out. New projectors have two kinds of ports, a digital HDMI audiovisual port, or an analog VGA port -- or both. I connect tablet with the mini-HDMI cable, and then connect the standard HDMI cable to the digital projector.
